At birth, the baby chimpanzee weighs less than 2 kg and depends entirely on its mother to survive. Unable to move alone, he grabs the latter who carries him under his belly in order not to lose him. At the age of one, he can climb on her back so that she can carry it safely on her shoulders. Until he's 2 years old, the little one is sometimes on the back of his mother, sometimes alone, discovering his environment. He has fun swinging, jumping on branches or fighting. The baby chimpanzee learns through play to discover its fellows and to join the group to find its place.
